SwitzerlandBE A PART OF MY JOURNEY
LET THE WORLD KNOW YOUR STORY
As a chef from India, my journey in the kitchen has been a vibrant tapestry of flavors, techniques, and stories passed down through generations. Growing up, I was immersed in the rich culinary traditions of my culture, where every dish tells a story and every spice has a purpose.
My journey began in my grandmother’s kitchen, where I first learned the art of cooking. She taught me how to balance flavors, how to coax the best out of each ingredient, and most importantly, how to cook with love. Her recipes were never written down; instead, they were passed down orally, like a treasured family secret.
One of the first dishes I learned to make was a simple dal, a staple in every Indian household. My grandmother would patiently show me how to wash the lentils, cook them with spices, and then temper them with ghee and spices. The aroma that filled the kitchen was intoxicating, and I knew then that cooking would always be a part of my life.
As I grew older, I started experimenting with different recipes, trying to put my own spin on traditional dishes. I would spend hours in the kitchen, trying out new combinations of spices, vegetables, and meats, always striving to create something unique and delicious.
One of my favorite recipes to experiment with is biryani, a fragrant rice dish that is a celebration of flavors. I would spend hours marinating the meat, cooking the rice with spices, and then layering everything together in a pot to cook slowly over a low flame. The result was always a masterpiece, a symphony of flavors that never failed to impress.
Today, as a chef, I continue to be inspired by the flavors and techniques of my culture. I love nothing more than sharing my passion for Indian cuisine with others, whether it’s through my cooking classes or my restaurant. For me, cooking is not just about nourishing the body; it’s about nourishing the soul, and I feel grateful every day to be able to share that with the world.
